Get to know writer Rob Ingalls:

1. What is your screenplay about?

It’s about a famous comedy actor, Will Ferrell, but with a major twist where his real life is just as crazy, if not more so, than his persona on screen. Tons of Will Ferrell clones were created years ago due to a mix-up of a special baby formula. Most clones were shipped off to another country except for one, who searches the world over to find his long-lost “sperm brother” Will Ferrell.

2. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?

It’s funny as hell.

3. This story has a lot going for it. How would you describe this script in two words?

Insanely funny.

4. What movie have you seen the most in your life?

There are actually several films, all comedy, that I have watched over and over again and still laugh hard. These include Caddyshack, Airplane, The Hangover, and Office Space.

5.  This is a very tight, emotionally engaging and fun screenplay. How long have you been working on this screenplay?

I’ve worked on this screenplay for several years. But the main essence was written in about two months.

6. How many stories have you written?

Half a dozen screenplays, mostly feature, but a couple shorts. I’ve also written a few novels, two based on my screenplays.

7. What motivated you to write this screenplay?

Initially when I began writing screenplays, I’d work on various genres that I was told would get the best notice, but I didn’t find joy in it. So I decided to write a screenplay that matched my humor and totally disregarded the rules of what I should write. This screenplay brings together the crazy comedy elements that you see in movies, especially those made in the 70s and 80s, and then mixes with an absolutely funny actor, Will Ferrell. And it’s not because I wrote this but every time I read it, I laugh like crazy. I see the story play out on the screen in my mind, and I continue to laugh again and again.

8. What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?

Daily life.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Photography.

10. What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?

I heard from another screenwriter about this and decided to give it a try. And the initial feedback was excellent. I really mean that.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Write from your heart. Write the screenplay that YOU want to see on the big screen and forget about all else.
