Don Downie is a director who creates films, television, digital content, and commercials. A native of Detroit and a self-taught filmmaker, Don first picked up a camera in 2004 — within a year, he was working professionally in TV, eventually racking up camera credits on shows such as Saturday Night Live, The Biggest Loser, CHOPPED, Innovation Nation, and Nat Geo’s Brain Games. Don launched his directing career with the creation of the ground-breaking web series podOpera Brooklyn, and the pilot Exit Strategy for TeenNick.

Recently, Don wrote and directed the award-winning short Pepper and the Salt Sea, a magical realism film about a photographer and a mermaid in post-Sandy Brooklyn. Upcoming projects include the short sex comedy Le Creuset (writer / director), the web series Royally (director) and the short film Cake (cinematographer).

Don’s is currently in development for two feature films with his production company Small Media Extra Large, which he founded in 2008.
